It’s impossible to talk about sports without mentioning the culmination of March Madness for Men’s College Basketball. The scene was set in Atlanta’s Georgia Dome with 74,326 fans on hand to watch in my opinion one the best National Championship games played in a long time! Louisville the #1 seed over all matched of with Michigan. What’s at stake: Michigan has not been in the title game since 1993 while Louisville is poised to win their third National Championship.

The fans surely weren’t disappointed. There were fantastic plays, big shots made throughout the entire game. Michigan’s Trey Burke, named the best player in college basketball the night before the championship game, started the game hot hitting his team’s first seven points in a flamboyant matter only to miss a significant amount of the game after getting in to foul trouble early. Spike Albrecht provided a spark for the wolverines with his hot shooting in the first half hitting 4 out 5 from behind the three point strike. Louisville’s Luke Hancock would not be out done, signifying himself as a sharp shooter hitting 5 of 5 from the three point strike. Hancock coming out the bench was the driving force to erase the 12 point lead that Michigan desperately tried to hang on to.

Down the stretch Peyton Siva paced the Cardinals making key shots turning an 18 point performance. Burke came back into try to rally his team but would fall a little short despite turning in a 24 point performance. Louisville riding an emotional high focused on winning for their injured teammate Kevin Ware would win the game 82 to 76. Giving Louisville its’ third National Championship.

Throughout the tournament there were a lot of surprises, none greater than Cinderella Florida Gulf Coast making it to the Sweet Sixteen after shocking a #2 & #7 seed in the first two rounds. The school has only been around since 1991. The state of Florida had three teams to make the tournament Florida, Miami, and Florida Gulf Coast. A Honorable mention goes out to Southern University in Baton Rouge for a hard fought game versus Gonzaga which would not be decided until the last 1:30 of the ball game in a first round matchup.

Now that basketball season is over and spring is officially here, so is spring football and the Masters. Majority of College Football teams are practicing and preparing for the inter-squad game which in most instances will be occurring, April 13 or April 20. Check your favorite or local team’s schedule then get out to support them . Golf fans have Augusta, Georgia buzzing with the Masters starting Thursday April 11; the big question will Tiger win his 5th Masters this weekend? Whatever your sport interests are I encourage you to get outside and enjoy it along with this beautiful spring weather in the south.

A world-renowned destination, Orlando is the place to make all of your vacation dreams come true. Of course, it is beloved for its theme parks: Walt Disney World, Universal Studios Florida, SeaWorld Orlando and many others. But it also beckons with world-class resorts, shopping opportunities for every budget, all-season golf courses, and some of the most enticing dining opportunities on the planet. Less known but equally inviting are the downtown sections of Orlando itself and many nearby towns in Central Florida – places that celebrate public art and take pride in offering a myriad of cultural opportunities.

Go to Orlando – and take your family – and wish upon a star.

Over 70 years ago, a small little business opened on Crawford Road with a name rooted deep in history: Nosegay Florists. The word Nosegay finds its origin in England from about the 15th century. Simply meaning a bouquet of flowers, the word quickly became associated with bridal shops. With those roots, Nosegay has flourished, continuing to produce blooms of beauty in Phoenix City, AL. No longer a tiny shop, Nosegay Florists now operates out of a 4500 square foot facility with a wide range of floral services. From in-home decorating to large corporate events, Nosegay brings beauty to customers. Purchased in 1983 by Shawneice Benton, the shop allows her to combine her formal education (Business and Finance) with her passion: DESIGN…..

Cynthia Maisano represents the Justice Field well. Her love for her work as a private practice attorney blends with appreciation for her clients and commitment to them. Committed to the fair application of law without personal judgments, Maisano is a shining testimony for justice. She also exemplifies the beauty of a life that radiates thankfulness and contentment. “God blesses me and I pay it forward,” is the guiding principle of her life. Attorney Maisano credits her mother with identifying the legal field as the perfect match for her. “She said I talked a lot and ought to be an attorney, “quipped Cynthia.

The Birmingham Business Resource Center is a business story of its own. Founded in 1996 by Bob Dickerson, the BBRC offers valuable services to prospective entrepreneurs. Essentially the center is a small business development agency that helps clients in three primary areas: management and technical assistance; access to capital and advocacy. Need birthed this center. While funding opportunities existed in the area, no resource was available to provide the complete package of services to potential business owners.
